Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do you repair or install gutters?
No, that’s not our specialty, but we can give referrals to trusted business partners.
How often should I get my gutters cleaned?
We recommend service at least once a year to prevent debris from damaging your roof and gutters. For homes with lots of trees and foliage, we recommend installing downspout strainers and/or gutter guards to prevent downspout clogs in the middle of the season.
If I install gutter guards, can I avoid gutter cleaning forever?
No, although some gutter guards are advertised as though they allow you to avoid gutter cleaning forever. Premium gutter guards like the LeafBlaster Pro keeps debris from entering your gutters, but they don’t remove it from your roof, which over time can damage your home. We recommend annual roof and gutter cleaning to prevent debris from piling up on your roof.
If you work on my roof to clean gutters, won’t you damage my tiles?
Most professional-grade tiles are designed to handle several hundred pounds of weight each. However, if you’re concerned about tile damage, we’re still able to clean your gutters only from ladders for an additional fee.
How do you come up with gutter cleaning estimates?
We base gutter cleaning estimates on the square footage of the house, whether the house has gutter guards, and some other factors such as the pitch of the roof, covering, number of stories, etc. Sometimes this can result in two houses with identical square footage having different prices.
Some companies provide estimates based on linear footage of gutters, but most homeowners don’t know the linear footage, so it’s more convenient for them to base it on square footage. We’ve also discovered that basing the estimate on square footage instead of linear footage results in a more accurate estimate.
Why don’t you just charge by the hour for gutter cleaning?
We don’t charge by the hour because we care about attention to detail. We don’t want to prolong a job just to get more money, or rush through a job to save the customer a few bucks.
How long does it take to clean gutters in the Sacramento area?
For a 2,000 square foot home, one of our trained technicians can usually clean it in under 2 hours. Smaller homes take less time, whereas larger homes take more. We usually will send a team of trained technicians to larger homes to reduce the time of completion.
What’s your coverage area for gutter cleaning?
We provide gutter cleaning for the greater Sacramento area, from Natomas to Elk Grove, Auburn to Placerville. We also provide gutter cleaning in El Dorado Hills where we are located, as well as gutter cleaning to Folsom, Granite Bay, Roseville, Rocklin and other nearby communities.
How do you clean gutters if gutter guards are installed?
We unscrew or remove a portion of the gutter guard, and then remove debris with a telescopic gutter scoop. After the gutter is cleaned, we carefully screw or reattach the gutter guard back in its place.
Do you charge more for gutter cleaning with guards installed?
We charge more to clean gutters with gutter guards because of time it takes to carefully detach and reattach the guards.
Do you clean patio covers or detached garages?
We can clean detached garages and most patio covers upon request for an additional fee. Many detached garages don’t have gutters which is why we often don’t include them in the estimation. Some patio covers have gutters that are inaccessible due to design, which is why we often don’t include them in our estimates, unless requested.
Why do you charge more than some other Sacramento-area gutter cleaners?
We believe attention to detail and providing peace of mind to our customers is more important than being cheap. Some gutter cleaning companies only clean the gutters, but they don’t bother cleaning with the roof or clogged downspouts, which is a disservice to customers. Our idea of service includes cleaning the roof, gutters and downspouts so that you can protect your home and have peace of mind.
Do you pressure wash the gutters to clean them out?
No, pressure washing inside a gutter, especially a clogged gutter, will only result in a mess and waste a lot of water. We’ve found that it’s more effective to clear the debris, remove any clogs in the downspout, drain the gutter and then blast it with air to clear out any remaining debris. The result is less of a mess.
